Camberley Care is a charitable organisation, which has been caring for and providing help to the elderly, disabled and vulnerable members of our community for more than 40 years.
Today, the core of the service is the provision of a car transport service, powered by volunteers, to provide reliable, safe and low-cost car services. We make no formal charge for this service, which is available to residents of Camberley and Frimley, but we do ask for a donation to help cover costs.
Our team of volunteer drivers can take clients to and from doctors, dentist, hospital and other medical appointments; clinics and day centres, opticians, hairdressers, visits to family and friends and social events. Drivers can even accompany clients on shopping trips and provide transport to other destinations as may be required. Please contact our office team for further information.

Subsidised Handyperson Service
Camberley Care provides a range of services and support which help people maintain their independence so that they can continue to live in their own homes for as long as possible.
Our trusted handyperson and minor repairs service helps elderly, disabled and vulnerable members of the community in Camberley and Frimley keep on top of household repairs and general DIY and helps ensure safety in the home.
No job is too small – we can help with everything from changing a light bulb or putting up a curtain rail through to general household repairs to fixtures and fittings, small plumbing jobs and home adaptations.
We understand the importance of getting this work done by someone you can trust and someone you can rely on. You can rest assured that our service will be delivered by an experienced, multi-skilled handyperson who has been DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked and who will always carry one of our distinctive ID cards.
Our handyperson service is designed specifically to cover a multitude of smaller jobs that typically take two hours or less to complete. Examples of typical such work include:
- Small repairs – such as, repairing fixtures and fittings, assembling small to medium sized flat pack furniture, putting up curtain rails, hanging curtains, shelves and pictures
- Safety measures – including the fitting of handrails and grab-rails to improve mobility around the home, removing trip/fall hazards, fitting and checking smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
- Home security – important checks and installation of door and window locks, door chains and door viewers
- Energy efficiency checks – installing draught excluders, radiator heat reflectors and energy efficient lightbulb
This list is not exhaustive. Clients who require more information should contact our office team on 01276 707692 for further information and advice.
We regret that work cannot be undertaken if there are potential health and safety issues. Camberley Care cannot undertake any work that requires a qualified person such as an electrical engineer, gas engineer, heating and ventilating engineer, carpenter or joiner.
What will it cost?
Camberley Care’s subsidised service keeps costs to a minimum. Our clients pay for the cost of any materials that are required plus a fixed rate charge of £20.00 for the first hour of work undertaken and an additional £10 for the second hour. To ensure maximum value is delivered, our handyperson can undertake a number of different jobs around the home during a single visit.
We expect that most handyperson jobs will require less than two hours to complete. In order to meet demand, we are unable to undertake any work which is estimated to require more time.
If the work required falls outside the scope of our subsidised handyperson service, we can provide a referral service to other local suppliers who operate separately from the Camberley Care subsidised handyperson service and would be happy to discuss directly.
